.TW is the country-specific top-level domain of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The island of Taiwan is located in the Western Pacific and is separated from mainland China by the Taiwan Strait. After the Second World War, Taiwan was removed from China but not handed over to China. The legal status of Taiwan remains unresolved to this day. The capital Taipei is a lively and up-and-coming city, with around 23 million people, mainly Chinese immigrants, living in Taiwan today.
