How do I use the Menu element?

Use the Menu element to add navigation to your website.

  • Drag the Menu element from the Main Toolbar to the desired position on your website
    • Note: If the Menu element is placed in the header or footer (recognizable in the Page structure), it is automatically inserted on each of your pages
  • Then select a menu variation
  • A window now opens to set the details for the navigation.

  1. The Menu element automatically creates a menu item for each page.
    • You can rearrange the order of the individual menu items using drag and drop.
    • You can also drag a menu item over an existing menu item to create a submenu.
    • With the function +New Menu item you can insert additional menu items.
  2. The name of the page is automatically used as the name for a menu item. You can rename the menu item here.
  3. Here you adjust settings for the menu item selected on the left.
    • Page on your Website: Select the page you want to link to from a drop-down list.
    • Web Address: Select this option to link to a page outside your website (e.g. https://www.orf.at).
    • File from your Website: Select this option to enable the download of a file directly from the navigation.
    • E-mail Address: Select this option to link to an e-mail address. If the visitor clicks on this menu item, their e-mail client automatically opens with a new e-mail. The recipient is entered automatically.
    • Phone Number: Select this option to link to a phone number. If the visitor clicks on this menu item with their cell phone, the stored telephone number is automatically called.
    • Popup: Opens a page as a pop-up.
    • Empty: Adds an element without a function to your menu. This function is suitable as a superordinate menu item for submenus.
  4. You can make further settings here
    • Open in a New Window: Opens the linked page in a new tab/window. Recommended for links outside your website. This keeps the visitor on your website with a tab/window.
    • "nofollow" link: Indicates to search engines not to index this link (learn more about nofollow links).
    • Open as popup: Opens the linked page as a popup.
    • Add icon: With this function you can add an icon to your menu item.

Notes

  • If the menu element is placed in the header or footer (recognizable in the Page structure), it is automatically inserted on each of your pages
  • If you place the Menu element in the body area (recognizable in the Page structure), go for the Visibility tab to specify where your menu is displayed (click on Show in current page only).
  • As soon as a menu item is added, a new page is automatically created.
  • To remove a menu item, click on the green X button on the left side of the menu window. By default, removing a menu item will not delete the linked page (unless the corresponding setting is selected)
