Set up a billing account for the Google Maps platform
The Google Maps platform has been subject to a charge since 2018. However, the platform is de facto free of charge for low traffic.
You can still integrate a static Google Maps map free of charge using iFrame.
However, if you want to use all the benefits of the Google Maps platform, you need an API key and a Google Maps billing account. How to create a billing account:
-
Open the Navigation Menu and select Billing.
-
Then click on
- Link billing account - if you already have a billing account with Google and want to link it
- Manage billing account - if you want to create a new invoice account
-
Click on Add Billing Account
-
Now select your country and click on Agree and continue
- Now enter your payment information and confirm with Start free trial
Create Google Maps API key
